There is an incomplete list of Exiles at American universities here.

This section of the website includes some of the athletes who left southern Africa in search of a better life overseas. There is no official register of their names or where they ended up. Some made a mark and their stories became well-known, but most of them just faded away, leaving little trace of their earlier presence.

They were not all Springboks - or even South African national champions, but over the years since 1953, numerous coaches and athletes - swimmers, divers, water polo players, synchronised swimmers and triathletes from South Africa - have moved overseas to train and compete.

Some used inherited dual citizenship rights to gain selection for the representation of other countries. Once there, most remained to become citizens of their new countries.

The vast majority have migrated to the United States. Some even gained international recognition, winning medals at world championships or even the Olympic Games.
