1920 - 1942

The second era of swimming in southern Africa coincides with the period between the World Wars. The 1918 - 1919 summer season was endured under war conditions, so no national champiosnhips were held, although club swimming did continue - as it had done throughout the war.

In 1921 women's events were added to the programme - although it was to be many years before women's water polo became a fixture at the aunnual Currie Cup Tournament. The Second World War ended the annual torunament for a few years, although a limited Women's and Junior events were still held.
