Nelspruit State Schools

The towns of Nelspruit and Witrivier are now almost combined, while Barberton, Komatiepoort, and Malelane are close enough to form a part of the Nelspruit swimming scene.

Laerskool Nelspruit

The school dates from 1917, and was later joined by two more local high schools - Bergvlam and Lowveld High. Nellies - as it is known - dominates the local inter-school galas. At the 2019 gala, Hoërskool Nelspruit took top honours in the boys and girls sections, ahead of Curro Nelspuiit and Rob Ferreira High.

Lowveld High School

Despite the presence of a functioning swimming pool, the school does not seem to participate in galas anymore. One recent pupil - Lungelo Nxumalo - did represented Swaziland at a CANA IV event in Malawi in 2018, winning a bronze medal.

Laerskool Witrivier

With four pupils from the school - Magdaleen Terblanche, Simoné de Beer, Terblanche de Kock en Michael Swanepoel - making the 2018 Mpumalanga Provincial schools team, swimming is a serious sport at the school.

Hoërskool Rob Ferreira

The school opened in 1948.

Hoërskool Bergvlam

Dating from 1975, Bergvlam lacks its own swimming pool, but its pupils compete in swimming and other aquatic sports.
