Germiston

Home to the largest gold refinery in the world, Germiston also boasts two outstanding public swimming facilities: Victoria Lake and the Delville Municipal swimming pool.

There are very few schools with swimming pools in the town.

Germiston schools

Colin Mann Primary and Germiston High are the only state schools with swimming pools in Germiston, while the private St Catherine School also has a facility.

Germiston Municipal Swimming Pools

The Delville Municipal swimming pool is well maintained and often used for local and provincial level galas.

Other Municipal swimming pools in Germiston

There is a number of pools operated by the municipality, but these seem to be unsuitable for galas. The winter temperatures also make them unsuitable for training. These swimming pools are often closed due to lack of maintenance.

Gerdview

Primrose - like an abandoned relic of a lost civlization, the declining fortunes of the Primrose suburb is reflected in its swimming pool.

Victoria Lake

The lake is used for open water races and triathlons, such as the Standard Bank 5150 triathlon. The event has been hosted successfully at Germiston Lake since 2013 attracting close to 1400 athletes each year since its inception growing to become the biggest standard distance triathlon in South Africa.

Victoria Lake is also a venue for the Open Water Swimming Series.
