Boksburg schools

The state high school and Martin OPrimary are the only schools with functioning outdoor swimming pools. Although many schools do participate in inter-school galas, their swimmers train in municipal or private facilities. 

The two private schools have combined their resources to create a fantastic outdoor facility. 

Thew 1987 Eastern Transvaal Schoools water polo team. Miss Uren was from Boksburg High.

Boksburg High School

The school opened in 1920, and its swimming pool built in about 1960.

Like many South African schools, pupils at Boksburh High actively participated in lifesaving.

Martin Primary

The school offers swimming as part of their PE program, and the pool is used for private lessons. There is also an inter-house gala held at the Boksburg North pool.

St Dominic's Catholic School for Girls is a private school that dates from 1923. No doubt helped by their aquatic center, the school's water polo team was ranked 11th in South Africa at the start of 2020, and 13th overall from 2010-2020.

In 2016 the school swimming and water polo coach, Wade Marshall, was selected as a Coach for the second time to represent South Africa at the Junior FINA Open Water Nationals held in the Netherlands.

2016 - Kiara Schutte played in the Under 16A South African Water Polo Team which competed in the PAN Pacific Youth Water Polo Festival in Auckland, New Zealand. 

2020 - FIVE ST DOMINIC’S WATER POLO PLAYERS SELECTED TO REPRESENT SOUTH AFRICA!
Amy Harmzen, Kara Wicht, Kiara Schutte, and Taylor Stanton are competing this week in the CANA Zone IV Water Polo Championships in Harare.
Oluchi McMurray was selected to represent the U17 ladies SA team in Brno, Czech Republic.

20 February 2020 - St Dominic’s Catholic School for Girls’ swimmers came second in the Inter-Catholic Gala that was held on the 19th of February. Thank you to St Benedict’s Catholic School for hosting yesterday’s Inter-Catholic Gala. Congratulations to our swimmers on the fantastic results!

Christian Brother College Boksburg is one of two CBC colleges in South Africa.

2016 Olympian Doug Erasmus is an old boy of the school, matriculation in 2009. He swam with Swift Aquatics Swimming Club in Benoni coach Glen Keevey until 2009 before moving to the Tuks Swim Club at the University of Pretoria.

 

In Febraury 2015 CBC Boksburg was crowned the overall winners of the annual swimming gala which took place in Kimberly. They competed against CBC Mount Edmund Pretoria, St Dominic’s Welkom, and St Patrick’s Kimberley, who hosted the gala.
