Hellenic Academy


Hellenic Academy was founded by the local Greek community in 2008. Pupils excel in water polo, swimming and triathlon.

Hellenic is a fairly new school in the aquatic sports history of Zimbabwe, although it seems to be very committed to excelling at aquatic sports, with multiple swimming and water polo facilities at the primary and senior schools.

Hellenic In Historic Fred Wilson Win As St George’s Win Collins Cup

14 Febraury 2017 - Hellenic Academy’s U15 waterpolo side made history this weekend coming out tops at the Fred Wilson Boys Water Polo Tournament they hosted a on Friday and Saturday.

A 7-4 victory over Falcon College in a heavily contested final on Saturday night secured the cup for Hellenic. In addition to Hellenic winning its first ever silverware in the U15 age group, the young lads went through the whole tournament undefeated.

Hellenic Water Polo Squad In South Africa

27 August 2014 - Twenty six senior Hellenic Academy water polo players are this week on a pre-season training tour at the Wahoo Aquatic Centre in Johannesburg.

The Alexandra Park school boys and girls are undertaking a full four day training program which includes land-based warm-up drills, swim sets, skills, game training and lectures on nutrition and water polo skills. Under the guidance of the the Gauteng Age Group Coaches, the students will play games starting after two days of training.

During this August holiday, Hellenic is constructing a new swimming pool complex at the school. This tour was part of their development efforts for their the swim and water polo teams who will be inaugurating the new pool.


Hellenic Lift Crusaders Shield As Chisipite Defend Players Cup

13 October 2014

The oldest schools tournament of any sport in Zimbabwe, Crusaders Shield and Players Cup ended yesterday at Falcon College in Esigodini with Hellenic Academy Boys and Chisipite Senior Girls claiming the respective titles. The tournament has been running since 1937.

Eventual winners for the Crusaders Shield, Hellenic enjoyed an excellent run with victories over Peterhouse 13-2, St. John’s College 7-6, St. George’s College 8-2, CBC 9-2 and Falcon College 8-7.
