Dominican Convent School

One of the oldest established schools in Rhodesia, Dominican Convent in Salisbury was founded in 1892. By 1949 enrolment had increased to 800 pupils, including boys. In 1940, boys transferred at the end of their Standard 4 to St. George’s Preparatory school and St. George’s Colleg. The Dominican Order set up a number of schools throughout the country - at Umtali, Bulawayo and Gwelo. Kirsty Coventry is a Convent graduate.
