Chisipite Senior School was opened in 1954 to cater for students who had finished their primary education at Chisipite Junior School. The article below dates from 11 March 1965.



I learned to swim in this pool. It was behind Mrs Purvis' house now the Nursery school. It was usually quite green but no-one cared. There were lots of mango trees close by and we were allowed to pick them but had to get them passed for eating by a teacher. The hairy seeds were then dried and made into dolls heads!!

Chisipite Girls Claim Own Show

23 September 2013 - Chisipite Senior School proved to be in a league of their own when they emerged outright victors at a swimming gala they hosted on Saturday 21 September.

The event which kicked off at 13:30 pm was attended by Lomagundi College and Peterhouse Girls from outside the capital. Arundel, Hellenic and Dominican Convent were also part of the competition. A second team fielded by the hosts, brought the total number of teams to six.

The host school dominated most of the events and at the end of the day they were rightly placed first with 399 points, ahead of Peterhouse who had 316 points. Hellenic was placed third with 271 ahead of Dominican Convent who amassed 242 points. Only eight points separated Lomagundi and Arundel, with the former ranking fourth with 208 points. Chisipite’s second team weighed in at position six with 118 points.

Will we see a swimmer of her calibre again? In her first year at Chisipite Senior she represented Zimbabwe in South Africa and Mauritius. Her Level 3 times allow her to compete in any junior world championship worldwide. At the Zimbabwe Nationals she came away with 14 gold medals, after breaking 2 Zimbabwe records for the 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle, and 2 Mashonaland records; for 400m Individual Medley and 200m freestyle.  Paige was also selected for the U14 Zimbabwe Waterpolo team in December.  She also broke the U14  800m record at Lomagundi College – a record that has been standing since 1981, in a time of  2:25.87.  At the age of 14, she most recently raced in the U17 cross country at Watershed, to not only finish tops but breaking the record for the 4,2km course.

Zimbabwean Swimmers Raise Flag High at African Jr Champs

3 April 2017 - Zimbabwe’s team of two high school swimmers raised the flag high at the just completed CANA XII African Junior Swimming Championships in Cairo, Egypt, 28-31 March 2017.  Paige van Der Westhuizen of Chisipite Senior School and Liam O’Hara of Falcon College each brought home two medals from the four-day meet.

Chisipite Wins Players Trophy Again

13 October 2015 - Chisipite Senior School’s water polo first team maintained top form in the pool to retain the Player’s Trophy for the fifth consecutive time on Saturday evening(10 October 2015).

Led by Captain Nicole Wallace, Chisipite’s team registered huge scores, winning 10-1 against Girls College, 11-0 over Hellenic and 20-0 over Peterhouse Girls. Chisipite’s Bree Caterall earned herself the Player of the Tournament Award.

The water polo trophy which started in 2004 has enjoyed prolonged residence at Chisipite. In recent times the only high school that threatened to dethrone Chisipite as champions was Hellenic Academy during the 2013-2014 season.

Chisipite Girls Win Hippo Trophy At Home

Playing at home, Chisipite Senior School’s waterpolo team shook off a Hellenic threat, winning 5-3 in the final match of the Hippo Trophy Tournament Sunday morning.

The U17 team from Chisipite Senior School won all three games during the tournament opening with a massive 16-3 win over Peterhouse on Saturday and a 4-0 victory over visiting side Girls College from Bulawayo. Hellenic Academy presented the toughest opposition for the tournament hosts going down 5-3 on Sunday. Chisipite pupil Hailey Smith who enjoyed an outstanding run throughout the weekend was named Player Of The Tournament.
